We believe children are fully alive to God’s wild and loving Spirit. Families of all shapes and sizes are essential to our shared life. To worship, grow, and serve with the children and families in our community is a gift—one that invites mutual discovery, deepens our faith, and reminds us how we belong to one another. Across generations, our worship is made more profound by the presence and participation of children and their families.
This full-time position provides strategic leadership and coordination for ministry with children and their families, including Sunday mornings, special events, and summer activities—all in collaboration with program staff and children’s music staff. The Director reports to the lead pastor and helps shape and articulate the vision for children’s ministry alongside staff, session, and the congregation.
The Director will cultivate meaningful connections with families, fostering rhythms of communication rooted in trust and belonging. With a heart for welcome and a vision for growth, they will help weave new and existing families more fully into the life of the church – inviting them not only to participate, but to belong and be known within the wider congregation.
This individual will recruit, equip, and support volunteers and leaders, nurturing a culture of shared leadership with an eye toward agility and resilience. The Director will also coordinate nursery operations and ensure the church’s Child Protection Policy is regularly reviewed and upheld.
As a member of the Worship Planning Team, the Director will actively participate in both the planning and leadership of worship. They will work to ensure children are meaningfully included—both as participants and leaders – and will provide materials and resources to deepen their engagement.
As part of the larger staff team, the Director will collaborate within a staff that deeply values a team-based approach. They will partner with colleagues to encourage intergenerational and cross-ministry connections and support the integration of children and families into the full life of the church.
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education or a related field such as Childhood Development, Social Work, or Education, and demonstrate a strong foundation in child development theory. Significant experience in a large church or comparable setting is preferred. The Director will be encouraged and supported in ongoing professional development and peer network engagement.
