Shayla Powell

Shayla brings more than three decades of experience as an educator, choral conductor, and ministry leader, with extensive experience in curriculum development, teaching and mentorship, program development, volunteer coordination, and building relationships with children and families. She has served as a vocal music educator with Milan Area Schools since 2000 and holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Michigan and a Michigan Professional Teaching Certificate for grades K–12. She has also served in a variety of church and faith formation roles, including at First United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor, First Congregational Church in Grand Blanc, and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Davison.

In addition to her role as Director of Children's and Family Ministry, Shayla directs the Lemon Chapel Singers and our summer Music & Fine Arts Camp.
